Arborists Reports
Trees can pose challenges during any development. Early involvement of Byron Bay Tree Services can significantly reduce the likelihood of costly project delays. Our Experience and understanding of the “Australian Standard 4970-2009 Protection of Trees on Development Sites” can allow us to make best Arboricultural recommendations for the protection of trees on the site before the call “Houston we have a problem!”
We offer Arborist assessments and Tree Reports in Northern Rivers NSW and Southeast Queensland. Our AQF Level 5 qualified arborists can provide you with Arboricultural reports to comply with all council and legislative requirements.
We can assist our clients and provide the following reports:
Preliminary Arboricultural Development Report
Arboricultural Impact Assessments for Development Applications (D. A’s)
Detailed Risk Assessments
Tree Surveys and Audits
Tree identification, health and condition
Tree Pest and Disease diagnosis
Expert witness
Tree reports for the coroner
Preliminary Arboricultural Assessment
This report is produced prior to any development design. Intelligent individuals/ developers understand that this is the most critical stage to engage a project arborist and should be done prior to any design.
Preliminary Arboriculture assessments can identify any legislation pertaining to the site such as council policies, planning instruments and controls, or threatened species before an Architect is engaged.
Preliminary Arboricultural Assessments identify trees on the property and become the starting point for the design.
Information gathered from the assessment allows the Project arborist to evaluate
· Tree identification and location
· Tree suitability for retention
· Identify Tree protection zones (TPZ)
· Identify Structural Root Zones (SRZ)
Packed with this information the owner can then design a structure that will allow the tree/s to continue to flourish into the future.
Arboricultural Impact Assessment Report
Arb. Impact assessment reports are required where proposed development works have the potential to impact trees. Most councils require this style of reports as part of the Development Application (D.A).
This assessment looks at how the proposed development may impact a tree on a development site.
The Arboricultural Impact Assessment report identifies Tree Protection Zones (TPZs) and Tree protection plans, often referencing AS4970-2009Protection of trees on development sites. Where required it also identifies the Stuructural Root Zone (SRZ) and guides all stakeholders on protecting trees during development, ensuring tree health throughout the development process.
Detailed Risk Assessment Report
We understand that trees can pose safety concerns to people and property. It is for this reason; we aim to work closely with landholders to appropriately manage the risk associated with the trees on their site.
The Detailed Risk Assessment is a systematic evaluation of observing the body language of any tree and noting any associated defects, or dysfunctions. Based on the principal of axiom of uniform stress, an interpretation can be made to identify potential factors that contribute to the current condition of the tree.
Not all trees are dangerous, and our qualified Arborists are members of Arboricultural associations such as “Arboriculture Australia” and “Queensland Arboricultural association”.
Where the safety of a tree is a concern, our AQF Level 5 Arborists can carry out a detailed assessment of the tree to identify any potential defects. Using industry recognised risk assessment tools such as VALID, the risk associated with the identified defects are assessed, and appropriate management measures applied to mitigate the risks.
Our arborists have qualifications in the following industry recognised risk assessment tools;
TRAQ (ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification)
QTRA (Quantified Tree Risk Assessment Qualification)
VALID (Tree Risk-Benefit Management & Assessment)
Tree Surveys and Audits
Tree identification, health and condition
To ensure proper tree management, accurate species identification is crucial. Each tree species has unique environmental needs for optimal growth. Our AQF Level 5 Arborists have extensive knowledge of tree species and their natural habitats. This understanding allows them to assess a tree's health and condition based on its appearance and growth patterns. Variations in a tree's size, height, form, leaf size, and colour can be influenced by its growing environment and external stresses.
Tree Pest and Disease diagnosis
If a tree is planted in the wrong environment or is stressed, it can show signs of distress in various ways. Stressed trees are more susceptible to pests and diseases, such as borer beetle attacks or fungal infections.
Our AQF Level 5 Arborists can help identify any pest or disease issues and recommend treatments to improve the tree's health and vigour, reducing the risk of future problems. A healthy tree is less likely to suffer from pests and diseases.
Expert witness
Tree disputes between neighbours are common, often arising from issues related to views, sunlight, or visual amenity. Byron Bay Tree Services' qualified AQF Level 5 Arborists strive to find the best solutions before legal action is necessary.
In New South Wales, the "Tree Disputes Between Neighbours Act 2006" provides a simple and cost-effective process for resolving tree disputes between neighbours. The NSW Land and Environment Court oversees these cases.
Our AQF Level 5 Arborists are here to represent your interests and assist in negotiating tree-related issues within the legal framework.
